Beer may not be the first drink you think about pairing with cheese, but just like with wine, tasting beer and cheese together can draw out and accentuate their subtler flavours. Here we’ve paired three craft beers from independent London brewery Kernel with three delicious British cheeses.

CHEESE

Winslade, Hampshire, Pasteurised Cow's Milk
The latest cheese from Hampshire Cheeses' Stacey Hedges & Charlotte Spruce, Winslade has been designed as a meeting point between Vacherin du Haut-Doubs and Camembert. Wrapped in a collar of spruce, the bark imbues the cheese with subtle woody pine notes.

Montgomery's Cheddar, North Cadbury, Somerset, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk
Jamie Montgomery makes a superb unpasteurised farmhouse cheddar using Traditional Rennet, with immense skill, & the crumbly textured cheese melts in the mouth. The lovely grassy aromas offset the fruity mellow rich taste that lingers gently on the tongue. A very sophisticated traditional classic cheese.

Pevensey Blue, Sussex, Pasteurised Cow’s Milk
Taking its name from the rich marshlands of the Pevensey levels, this beautiful cheese is modelled on a Gorgonzola Dolce style, designed to showcase its sweetness as it matures and ripens.
