SOUTH WEST FRANCE CHEESE AND WINE BOARD
South West France is the hidden treasure of France, stretching across a rugged landscape to the border of Spain. Their cheeses have a distinct taste and texture giving them a full bodied fruit and nut taste. We source direct from farmer/cheesemakers and our work in refining them in our cooled and humidity controlled rooms brings them to a perfect point for you to enjoy. It is our aim to showcase the terroir - the land - and how cheese is so much a part of this as well as being so delicious
CHEESE
- Mothais a la Feuille | Poitou-Charentes. Goat, Unpasteurised. I unit (110g). A thick, whole disc covered in a protective sycamore or vine leaf.
- Napoleon | Hautes Pyrénées, Ewe, Pasteurised. 200g. In the style of other Pyrénées ewe's milk tommes (such as Ossau), but with a softer texter and nutty tang.
- La Nauc | Aveyron. Ewe, Thermised. 200g. Lightly washed in brine and matured in natural, humid cellars, which gives the cheese its subtle, but distinct character.
- Bleu de Basque | Pays-Basques, Pyrénées, Ewe, Pasteurised. 200g. An unusual cheese from the mountain region of Pays-Basques. This is a semi-hard cheese with the blue veins "parsleyed" through the dense, rich, mellow cheese. A rare treat as blue cheeses are not normally made in this area.
WINE
-
Chateau Le Roc - House White
Vin de Pays D'Oc, Fronton
50% Colombard & 50% Sauvignon Blanc
The vineyards of Jean-Luc & Frederic Ribes are situated south of Toulouse & this light, zesty wine is produced from the vines of the next property as their own land is used almost entirely for red wine production. The grape varieties give a really intense aroma of grapefruit, orange & exotic fruits while the taste is fresh with an aromatic long finish. Served chilled as an aperitif or with light cheeses & simple meals.
-
Chateau Le Roc - House Red
Côtes de Frontonnais, SW France
60% Negrette with a blend of 20% each Syrah & Cabernet SauvignonJean-Luc and Frederic Ribes work their vineyard on a 32 acre property south of Toulouse. They take full advantage of the terroir in producing vigorous tasting wines. We chose this for our House Wine as it packs a punch for the money, and is extremely versatile, insofar as it pairs beautifully with cheese as well as simple style foods as well as more complex stews. Lovely hits of cherry & spice with forward tannins make this a great modern style everyday wine
ACCOMPANIMENTS
- Box of Cheese Biscuits
- La Fromagerie Canvas Bag
- Tasting notes
